The combination resume format combines the best of a chronological and functional resume because it highlights a person's best skills and abilities and includes an employment history. It can have more impact than a straight chronological resume. Take a look at the combination resume below - by compressing the work history at the end of the resume this format can de-emphasize a career changes as well as an erratic, unrelated, or short work history and focus on skills instead. Minor weaknesses in your work history can be offset and minimized by first selling an employer on your skills. When making a career change this format draws attention to transferable skills and de-emphasize the lack of experience in a particular field.
